Easy Baked Apple Chips🍎🍏🍎🍏

by Thursday, November 5, 2020

Tis the season for everything apples! It’s Fall, the leaves and the weather are turning and everyone is apple picking and drinking cider. Although apple pie is my all-time favorite apple snack, these easy apple chips are lighter and simpler to create for any time snacking. So easy, I bet you already have everything you need in your cabinets right now. Please try this.

What you need

*You will need a Mandoline Slicer or a super sharp knife to slice the apples thinly.

Large baking sheets

What to do

Wash the apples.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

I used the 5mm blade on my mandoline to shave both apples (or 1/8-inch slices). The easiest way to do this is to cut the bottom and tops of both apples so they sit flat on any surface, and shave entirely. *You get a lot of chips from each apple (between 35 & 40) so be sure you have a large enough baking sheet for both apples. I used multiple baking sheets.

Mix the sugar and cinnamon well in a medium bowl.

*lightly* coat the baking sheet with coconut oil (smear with your fingers or a paper towel), I think this is how the magic happens for me but lining with parchment paper works just as well.

Next coat both sides of each apple by simply laying each side in the mixture (apples don’t have to be completely covered, you only need a sprinkle) and place the chip on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 1 hour and turn the chips over and bake for another 30 minutes (your house is going to smell lovely). Chips should be stiff and crunchy to touch, if not continue to bake in 15-minute increments.

Take the chips out of the oven and enjoy or store in airtight containers immediately.
