It’s amazing that we (women, black women, girls, females, all colors) have influences such as Dr. Maya Angelou and still act as if we have no power or voice. We are still constantly (publicly) degrading ourselves for the sake of attention and the opposite sex.
One of the greatest women of my time has passed away. I don’t think I have reflected on the influence Maya Angelou had over my development as a young adult woman. I read “I know why the caged bird sings” and my life was forever altered. I was given a copy of Phenomenal Woman as an undergrad present and created a tradition of passing it along to any other woman whose graduation I attended. I can’t express my gratitude enough. The world will forever be changed.
What do you think?
