My name is Brigette, I’m a 32 year old woman from Pittsburgh, Pa who has suffered from obesity since a young age. I grew up with very low self-esteem because I didn’t think anyone would accept me because I wasn’t a size 8.

After giving birth to my first born, a beautiful baby girl, I was well over 250 lbs. Yet still I had no desire to attempt to lose any weight or make any other health changes. Four years later I gave birth to my second child, with whom I gained over 80 lbs. At this point in life I was a total weight of 375 lbs.

As years went by and through my trails and tribulations things started to negatively effect me  emotionally, spiritually and even physically. I was so caught up in my role in life that I didn’t notice the changes. It wasn’t until people start making comments such as “looking good girl” and “what you doing to lose weight?” That I myself took notice. I was confused  because I hadn’t made any effort to loose weight but it was noticeably coming off. A few months ago I posted a picture of me a year ago and a current picture and I was instantly motivated. I was ecstatic! I was so impressed with myself that I promised – from that day fourth I would make a change for the better. I changed my diet and I joined the YMCA and exercised regularly.

I’m far from where I want to be but further from where I use to be. I feel so much happier and healthier with the person I am becoming.  To date, I weigh 255 lbs and i’m PROUD!!!! I am still a work in progress but I am determined and I know I have the will power. It’s not easy by any means but –  “know that you can do whatever you put ya mind to”. So like Nike, “JUST DO IT”
