Happy Tabbalicious 2020

I have a few lessons, a few affirmations, and a few realizations to share with you. With a new year comes a new age – I don’t mind getting older, but I do mind repeating mistakes and wasting time. As I age I pay more attention to the person I have become and I compare new me to all the previous versions.

Be good to yourself

I take good care of myself – really good care of myself. This means, inside and out. I work on my self-esteem, I work on my thought processes and I work on continuous positive thinking. Give yourself a break sometimes – you’re doing the best you can.

Know when to walk away

The truth is, we waste a lot of time through expectation. People hold onto the hope of change when really the only change you can dictate comes from yourself. Changing your outside surroundings will change your insides. Let go of the expectations of others and hold on to changing within.

Remember – it’s probably your fear that is hindering your progress

I admit, I am afraid. Afraid of success and afraid of failure at the same time! It sounds insane, but somehow I keep charging forward. More than ANYTHING I’m afraid of standing still. The need for progress trumps my fear.

You are your most important person.

This is a hard pill to swallow, but plainly put – if you don’t take care of yourself how can you take care of anyone else? Whether it be spouses, children, friends or extended family – don’t let caring for others use you up. Explaining how to do this is easier said than done. Take a little time for yourself, daily … if that’s impossible try weekly.

Practice patience

Patience with your SELF and situations – especially those in which you can’t control. However, follow your intuition when it comes to people. At my age, the only second chances I have are reserved for my self.

Mind your esteem

Stay clear of people that question your self esteem. Misery loves company and some hate to see others happy or working on themselves. You don’t need to explain who you are to people or why you like yourself. Just keep up the great work.

BONUS * I put an Aloe plant on my nightstand for nightly face rituals and started adding eye cream to my daily skincare (adult acne) regiment.
