It’s simple – I eat & drink SPICE! All kinds of peppers, especially jalapeño & cayenne. By character I like spice, zest and kick added to my foods so i’ve learned to use that to my advantage (i can never have too much wasabi or red pepper flakes – in everyday cooking). I mean – I like spicy foods so hot my nose starts running! Here are a few ideas to add a bit of pep to your pallet which can increase your ability to burn more fat in less time. Many of my most favorite foods happen to be metabolism boosters.
Add Pepper flakes to everything! Usually for dinner I make a BIG salad, topped with a clear dressing. Most days the protein added are egg whites & sautéed mushrooms. These mushrooms are flavored usually with a dash of salt, olive oil and spoonfuls of red pepper flakes and black pepper. You can over spice the mushrooms because the greens and lettuce tone down the intensity. Works well preparing sliced chicken breast the same way. A dinner like this will leave you light & hot!
Give infused water a try! (pictured above) Not the stuff you buy at the corner store but the stuff you make in your own kitchen for half the price per bottle. Simply fill up a jar (I use a mason jar) or wide mouthed bottle with water and add sliced fruits and chill over night. Specifically add ginger, Lemon, cucumber and mint. This boosts metabolism, flattens the tummy AND detoxes. Simply refreshing.
Add Cayenne pepper to your fresh juices & smoothies. We all know i’m a fan of juicing but realistically some of the most beneficial juice mixtures can be bland. Because I juice so frequently I prefer more exciting flavors opposed to subtle or sweet. Keeping in mind I like to look forward to my juice lunch at work – I experiment with spicy sweet. Along with the nutrients of whatever green veggies, a different sweet fruit paired with a intensely hot spice works best. Sometimes adding a bunch of ginger is enough – more and more often I add a teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Adding lemon will take the edge off and drinking this for lunch gets rid of the mid day crash.
Replace tea with warm Lemon water. Along with boosting metabolism there’s a host of other health, skin & fitness benefits.
The above are habits I adapt into my everyday life. Continuously doing small things to form good habits can do wonders for improving overall health. These ideas may not be for you but I hope they at least give you an idea of the many easy changes you can implement easily into everyday life.
